Earthworm Fauna and Its Importance for Agriculture, Biodiversity, Ecology, and Tourism – Specifics of Kamenjak (30 min)

This lecture introduces us to the mysterious world of earthworms, key organisms in soil ecological systems. It will briefly explain their basic biological properties, including anatomy, nutrition, and reproduction, as well as their wide range of species, focusing on the endemic species Octodrilus istrianus, which is specific to Istria and gives Kamenjak special value and significance.

This lecture emphasizes how the local community can address the challenges it faces in the long term, recognize and appreciate the natural resources of Kamenjak, and utilize them for sustainable development and the preservation of natural heritage, while learning how to effectively manage and exploit the potential their environment offers.
