An Area Ideal for an Activity Holiday

The area of Lower Kamenjak and the Medulin Archipelago (known as Punta or just Cape Kamenjak) is one of the most interesting places to visit in Istria. The reasons for this are certainly the beautiful landscapes and nature you can experience with all your senses, especially in spring and autumn. Kamenjak is ideal for an activity holiday. From walking, cycling, kayaking to surfing, everyone will find an interesting activity for which they will remember their visit to Kamenjak.

Grab your bag and hit the road:

  • take a walk along the dinosaur trail and have a look around one of the rare sites of fossilised dinosaur footprints at Cape Grakalovac dating back 98 million years
  • take a walk along the educational trail and get to know the natural values of Kamenjak
  • visit the native Boškarin cattle farm and have a look around an Istrian family farm with agritourism activities
  • take a walk along the Gradina sensory-educational path at Upper Kamenjak that is adapted for the blind and visually impaired
  • “escape civilisation” at the Safari bar overlooking Mala Kolombarica Cove
  • relax and enjoy refreshments at one of the beach bars (Pinižula Cove, Polje, Njive, Mala Kolombarica, Debeljak, Mali Portić, Školjić and Dražice)
  • spend an activity holiday by using the sports facilities: the trim trail around Pinižula Cove, the Školjić Sports Centre, and the Školjić Windsurf Station
  • follow the “Orchid” cycling trail and look around the entire coastal area (trail length: 12 km)
  • take a swim in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea at one of the most beautiful stretches of Croatian coastline and discover numerous hidden coves
  • dive into the wonderful undersea world of Kamenjak
  • visit the “Kamenjak House of Nature” eco-centre in Premantura.

Kamenjak is an interesting area to visit throughout the year, but for a complete experience we recommend late spring and early autumn when you can most fully enjoy the natural diversity this area has to offer.

Sport

The Upper and Lower Kamenjak cycling trails are among the most popular in Istria. One of the trails runs along the coastline and reveals all the beauty of Kamenjak – grasslands, forests, seashore and beautiful landscapes. The trail is of medium difficulty. Apart from this coastal cycling trail, a ride along the main road will also satisfy all nature lovers who want to cycle across the southernmost part of Istria. The Kamenjak Rocky Trails international mountain biking competition is held here every spring.

If the sea is more for you and you prefer water sports, we suggest you head to Školjić Cove where you can rent a kayak and row around the islands of the Medulin Archipelago. You can also have a go at stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and windsurfing since Kamenjak is one of the most popular destinations among surfers.

The Full Moon cycling tour, held when there is a full moon on summer nights, is particularly interesting.
