Restoration of the traditional dry-stone wall on mud in Vinkuranska vala (Soline Bay)

This community project will be carried out from Thursday, 21 October 2021 to Sunday, 24 October 2021. The participation of about 100 volunteers is anticipated in the restoration of 100 metres of a century-old dry-stone wall, under the leadership of three masters of dry-stone construction from the 4 GRADA DRAGODID association. The goal of the project is the preservation, valorisation and promotion of dry-stone walls as a recognisable element of traditional Istrian architecture, identity, culture and customs, through the education of the youngest, the inclusion of residents of all age groups in the intergenerational exchange of experiences and skills in dry-stone construction, and the encouragement of togetherness and strengthening of the sense of belonging to the community. The project developer is the Vinkuran Local Board in cooperation with project partners the Kamenjak Public Institution, Kindergarten Medulin, Med Eko servis d.o.o. and the photography lovers’ association Format. The total value of the project is HRK 28,553.91, and it is being carried out with the financial support of the Foundation for Partnership and Civil Society Development (88%) and the Municipality of Medulin (12%).
